Rockers In Recovery received a letter that made us proud to see that our message is making a difference.
A gentleman Daniel W. who is in a Broward County Correctional Facility Life Skills Program wrote to Rockers In Recovery regarding our Radio Show and two very powerful songs we play. He explained how the inmates who are struggling with addiction listen to our radio show on 1470 AM daily. When they are not in AA/NA meetings the group of men get together and listen to Rockers In Recovery.
He said the two songs that they all can relate to are “Last House on the Block” by Richie Supa and “Broken Is A Place” by Ricky Byrd.
He gave us a little information on the group recovery program he is a part of and stated that it is a 30 day program which when their 30 days are up another 65 men come in. He believes these two songs are motivational and asked if we could assist him with getting them onto a CD and mailing it to the Facilities Specialist.
We are planning on getting that CD burnt for them this week and we want to thank all of the men working on themselves one day at a time at the Life Skills Program for their desire to do something different with their lives.
From all of us at Rockers In Recovery you are in our prayers and we look forward to hearing great things from all of you upon your release.

Host Will Grayson
Host Will Grayson was born and raised in New York City. His early childhood was spent in a supportive environment that offered him everything he could possibly need to aspire to any level of accomplishment he so desired.
As the turbulent 1960’s stormed America, Will found himself caught in the wave of an anti-establishment mindset. With this, came an attitude of defiance that manifested itself in anti-social and destructive behavior. This became apparent when Will began to engage in illicit drug use.
These behaviors worsened over a course of twenty years. During this time, Will lost his marriage, children, and self-esteem. During this personal storm, Will also experienced the tragedy of his daughter passing away. This event only served to propel Will further into the throes of his addiction.
After many years of bouncing between institutions, and becoming homeless, Will found himself at his bottom. He realized that if he kept living this way, he would not survive. After his last stint in jail, faced with substantial incarceration, Will knew that he would try with all the courage he possessed to bring about a positive change.
While in jail, Will was exposed to a twelve-step program. As he became more involved with the program, he felt a sense of freedom for the first time in years. With each new day came a different revelation, and Will knew that he had found the bridge back to sanity.
As he acquired more clarity, it became apparent to Will that he truly wanted to help others.
What started as a need to help himself has ultimately turned into Wills life mission.
After getting his own life together, Will sponsored super star Darryl Strawberry (N.Y. Mets, N.Y. Yankees), Richie Supa (Aerosmith), Gary McClain, NCAA MVP Villanova, and many more. He is now a Board Certified Addictions Professional. He’s also currently working on his Bachelor Degree in Social Work.

Bubba Mac’s passion for the blues, and live music in general, was the motivation for creating the both restaurants and continues to be a driving force behind everything they do. Bubba and Mac created and presented the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Blues and Music Festival in Atlantic City, NJ. Paul Benjamin of the North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland, ME came on board to help make the festival a success. As you can see from the lineup, the festival had the best of the best. We want to thank all the musicians, fans, and volunteers for coming out and enjoying our first blues and music festival. It was a great weekend. Thanks for your support. Bubba Mac’s passion for the blues, and live music in general, was the motivation for creating the both restaurants and continues to be a driving force behind everything they do. Bubba and Mac created and presented the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Blues and Music Festival in Atlantic City, NJ. Paul Benjamin of the North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland, ME came on board to help make the festival a success. As you can see from the lineup, the festival had the best of the best. We want to thank all the musicians, fans, and volunteers for coming out and enjoying our first blues and music festival. It was a great weekend. Thanks for your support. Kevin King was a station manager at WDCR Philadelphia, hosted numerous music shows as well as worked for Corner Stone Management which was the management company for the band The Hooters, Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers. Kevin now works for The Holistic Lifestyles Radio Network.

Former Drummer of Billy Joel. DeVitto has been making music for over 40 years and now gets to give back as an official supporter of Little Kids Rock. Liberty is a great drummer with a heart the size of his drum kit.
Liberty DeVitto (born August 8, 1950) is an American rock drummer. He is best known as the drummer for Billy Joel, but has also played with the NYC Hit Squad and has been a session drummer on recordings of other artists.
DeVitto was born in New York City of Italian ancestry where his father was a police officer at the New York Police Department. He taught himself to play the drums after seeing The Beatles on their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964.
After working with Billy Joel for 30 years, Devitto left in 2006 just before Billy Joel’s tour. Up to that point, he had the longest running tenure in Joel’s band, starting with the recording of 1976’s Turnstiles.
In 2003, Liberty DeVitto signed on as an official supporter of Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit organization that provides free musical instruments and instruction to children in underserved public schools throughout the U.S.A. Liberty has personally delivered instruments to children in the program, performed at benefit events for the cause, and sits on the organization’s Honorary Board of Directors.

Live at Right Turn a new CD by Woody Giessmann, who is best known for his work with Boston band The Del Fuegos, has just released a collection of songs he wrote on piano. The songs are available by download or purchase a CD at: http://cdbaby.com/cd/woodygiessmann or on http://www.right-turn.org/productions.html.
Woody wrote and performed the songs live at Right Turn on June 5th, 2010 along with local musicians Jon Cohan, Richard O’Connell, Philip Kaplan, Dana Shellmire, and David Scholl.
All of the proceeds for this 10 song CD benefit addiction services of Right Turn, Inc, an innovative outpatient clinic in Arlington Massachusetts. The songs on the CD are about Giessmann’s experiences with the dark side of addiction.
The Del Fuegos were a garage-style pop band in the 1980s with lead singer Dan Zanes, guitarist Warren Zanes (his brother), bassist Tom Lloyd, drummer Steve Morrell, later replaced by Brent “Woody” Giessmann and keyboardist Br. Cleve.
The Boston-based band was signed to a series of respected indie labels, was touted by fans such as Tom Petty, starred in a beer commercial, and gained airplay with “Don’t Run Wild” and “I Still Want You”. Dan Zanes went on to a solo career and success recording children’s music in his band Dan Zanes and Friends and music videos, made popular by heavy airplay on the Disney Channel.In 2007, his album “Catch That Train!” received a Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children. Brother Warren Zanes went on to earn two Master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in Visual and Cultural Arts. He is also the Vice President of Education at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Tom Lloyd went back to college and earned a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley before earning a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1999.
In 2003, Woody Giessmann founded Right Turn Addiction Services, a program offering assistance to artists in recovery from drug addiction and other mental health issues.
The Del Fuegos are referenced in The Juliana Hatfield Three’s biggest hit, 1993’s “My Sister,” as well as in the song “Boston, Mass” by The Ergs. Gang Green dedicated a track from their album Another Wasted Night to them. A reunion concert is advertised to 23 June 2011 at Paradise Rock Club, Boston, Mass.
